Program: A guided family snowshoe walk will be held at the Blacktail Mountain cross-country ski trails near Lakeside. Participants may bring snowshoes, or a limited number of children's and adult shoes will be available by reservation. Come have fun in the snow! Learn about snowshoeing, identify wildlife tracks and sign, and look for winter birds. Meet at the upper trailhead parking area. Program: Ranger-led snowshoe hikes suitable for beginners and families. Come learn a little about winter ecology during an hour-long hike. Snowshoes available. No reservations required. Visitors still need to purchase a park entrance pass.

Program:  On December 29 we will be hosting a moonlight snowshoe out of the historic Moose Creek Ranger Station on Rimini Road. These walks will be a little shorter than our usual moonlight hikes, with one group leaving at 7 PM and a second at 8 PM. Moose Creek Cabin also will be open with some holiday cheer and information about this amazing historic site. The trails we'll use include an old railroad bed and old roads around the historic Camp Rimini. The easy terrain ensures opportunities for all levels of snowshoers--from never-beens to experienced!

Program: On December 31, we will be hosting a "Learn to Snowshoe" day in Lincoln, Montana. These hikes will explore Nature's Playground, the Children's Forest in town. Walks will leave the DNRC parking area every hour between 10 AM and 2 PM. RSVP

Program:  Join us for a FREE ski day at the Rendezvous Ski Trials on Saturday, January 30, 2010.  West Yellowstone’s Nordic shops will offer free ski & snowshoe rentals this day also.  Local experts will offer complimentary ski lessons from 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. Guided 1 hour family snowshoe walks @ 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Meet at the Rendezvous Trailhead Building and learn how to ski and snowshoe! No reservations and no trail permit required.

Program: Snowshoe hike for ages 8 to adult. Meet at the Lone Pine Visitor Center. Be prepared with warm clothing and wear sturdy hiking shoes.  A limited number of snowshoes for kids and adults are available. Call Mary Beth at 406/755-2706 to reserve a pair. The hour-long program will include a brief introduction to the history of snowshoeing as well as potential opportunities around Flathead Valley to get involved in the sport. Participants will be assisted in fitting their snowshoes and given an opportunity to practice using them a little before we hit the trail. Once on the trail we will have fun exploring the park and learning about winter ecology.
